Enter Gravity
RaceFace certainly saw some troubled times recently but thankfully Gravity stepped up to the plate and brought us the combined forces of FSA and Gravity.
We're running the Gravity Light Bars and Stems on all our bikes. The stuff is exactly what it says on the tin - Light and suitable for gravity riding. That said, its light enough to run as XC kit too as a stem weighs in at just 145g for a 45mm stem! The 710mm bars are an equally svelt 320g with the new 740mm 2012 Gravity Light CSI (Carbon System Integration) bars a measly 240g!
The stuff looks and feels great and is working faultlessly so far!
Big Timber
Again our favourite Twins have been busy filming and editing some video of their Whistler exploits.
This video presumably shot by the 3rd twin?
Here's a nice sample of a Whistler staple XC descent - Big Timber.
Nice work from the Mancs... their ability and confidence has grown enormously since their first holiday with us back in 2008!
It's amazing what 20 weeks of riding with the BBB staff can do for you :)
Bike Check - JT Huck
2011 Guide Bike Check - JT Huck
Jamie has been with us for a while now and always impresses us with his relaxed flow on a bike.
JT has also been out and about filming and shooting with various photographers over the last couple of seasons. Most notably slotting into the FastFokus - Be Careful webisode and shooting with Jordan Manley for BBB's recent MBUK articles.
Jamie's super smooth on a bike, but ride hard and rides a lot!
In 2011 JT logged 68 days and 328 individual scans on the Whistler bike park alone this year. Based on actual location scans thats a whopping 113,569m (113km) or 383,971ft (73miles) of elevation he's ridden down.
This does not include unscanned rides up Garbo, shuttle days in Squamish or North Van, or even his trip to Europe for the worlds OR even the current season of riding over in New Zealand
In 2010, it was a huge 87 Days and 507 scans on his previous Voltage FR!
To put that into perspective, solely on the bike park, he's effectively taken that bike well up into space and ridden back down again.
Did he break anything descending over 100km of bike park trails? Not a single thing!
Recruiting 2012
Now we're into 2012, we're starting to get organised for the upcoming season and we are looking to recruit early!
Chef
We are looking for a talented chef to fill the voids left behind by the likes of Wallace, Timmy and Bex.
We've had some superb chefs over the years and looking for a new member of the team.
Do you get a buzz from being in a resort town, cooking up great food for fun groups of riders and want soem time on teh biek yourself? Then this is the job for you.
Wallace, our chef for 2010/2011 had it dialled. He cooked many a superb breakfast and dinner and still got plenty of time on his bike.
In 2010 rode the bikepark almost exclusively and he logged 81 days, 450 runs!
In 2011, he mixed it up and started to pedal teh resorts XC trail network more but still managed 55 days and 233 runs.
Chalet host
As always, we need the services of a chalet host. Duties include 'keeping house' and keeping things in shape.
Sophie was the definition of perfect, so there are some pretty big boots to fill.
That said, no reason that you cant ride 6 days a week whilst keeping the place spic and span.
Ideally the chef comes with a significant other - the chalet host - are you that awesome couple?
Employment package details on request, please email Mark for more info.
