Snow Riding In July
2010 has been a strange year for snow. Whistler had a record winter up in the Alpine while the valley and village were positively barren of the white stuff.
There was no winter wonderland in Whistler village during the olympics with journalists the world over questioning how this is ever a real winter resort.
Move away from the village and up the lifts into the sub alpine and alpine and Whistler Blackcomb enjoyed 32 feet of snowfall before the olympics circus even rolled into town!

While the lack of snow in the village and throughout the vally floor was a welcome relief for commuters and locals it also meant that the XC riding and lower park trails opened up super early and let people get out on their bikes for some great early season training.
Squamish, while socked in with snow for a good 3 months last winter, had maybe 2 days of snow on the ground the entire winter.. XC Riding pretty much good to go all winter long!
Back to the Alpine in Whistler...
With the imminent arrival of Doddy of MBUK fame, Mark, Pete and Tristan were dispatched to scout the entrance into Khybers to see if we could get Doddy in there and create some superb editorial content from the trip. The slow melting snowpack scuppered those plans and the boys ended up with a whole bunch of boot packing through soft snow trying to find the trail. Long day, but they made the most of their Peak Chair ride and fresh tracks down and around Highway 86.
Kybers was scratched off the hit list for this trip, but we'll definately be back once the snow has melted away and we can find that awesome ribbon of dirt taking us back towards Dusty's for a pulled pork sandwich and a well earned beer!
