Whistler bike park opening dates 2011
This week, Brian Finestone, Whistler Bike Parks ops manager announced that we will be good to go on the 20th May for the first riders uploading the Fitz Express!“Our team is hard at work getting ready for the 2011 Bike Park season and this summer is looking to be one of the best yet,” says Brian Finestone, Bike Park Manager for Whistler Blackcomb. “With snow still covering the trails, it’s going to be a real chore to dig them out this year but the anticipation of bike season fuels us. A lot of great work was done last fall upgrading some popular trails as well as creating Scottish Hammer and Fade to Black; all of which will soon be uncovered for our riders to enjoy.”
Whistler is currently innundated with Skiiers here for the Telus World Ski and Snowboard festival (previously Whistlers flagship event until it was exclipsed by Crankworx) and the Easter holidays.
Skiiers are currently enjoying Whistler 2nd snowiest season on record with 15 meters of snow leaving a huge groomed snowbase and 100% of the mountain still open with the ski out to the village still in excellent shape!
More snow in the forecast with the occasional flurry but the freezing level is creeping up above 1300m which, combined with the sunny skies, is just what we need to get rid of this incessant white stuff and get back to the amazing dirt the summer brings with it!
Roll on summer!
Worth noting is that Whistler Mountain Closes for Skiing on the 25th April with Blackcomb mountain remaining open until May 30th! So, early visitors can enjoy both Skiing and Bking if they want!
