  • 18/01/09: 2009 Rates Live
Our rates are up for 2009 - whats the skinny?
Considering the rather disapointing performance of the pound we really should be putting our prices up to ensure we still deliver our unsurpassed holiday's to our guests, however with great considerationof the current economic climate we have decided to move in a different direction - we are training hard to keep ourselves the best value for money option for a Whistler holiday and have decided to offer the Whistler Experience holiday package from the AltaVista chalet. Its a larger property that allows us to streamline and run more efficiently with potentially larger numbers and has just gone through a large facelift for 2009.
In short, our holiday package rates remain the same meaning that our value remains the highest and you can still head out to Whistler to ride the greatest trails on earth without having to worry too much about what's going on appart from what ahead of your front wheel!
The Black Bear remains in the program as our deluxe luxury property as an exclusive option for groups of 6+ and at a premium rate - not everything can be cheaper sadly!

  • 20/12/08: Down time - Up date
Well, here we are playing catch up on the great summer that was 2008. Accounts are due, properties are being updated, added and refined and Marks off to Africa!
2008 threw some interesting challenges our way. The Sea-to-Sky highway was closed for 5 days due to a massive rock slide. With guests still needing to get to Vancouver for flights, we had 1 day boating guests out from Britania Beach to Horseshoe bay past the incredible carnage and ultimate road closure. Another day we had to do the 'long way round'. The drive via Lillooet was stunning, however a long day for all involved - none the less, departing guests made it home and arriving guests made it to Whistler.
Then Zoom dropped a bomb and ceased all operations. 16 guests stuck in resort with 10 more left having to find alternative flights over to BC for their holiday. Everyone kept a brave face and most managed to get sorted out by their insurance!

Whistler's experiencing some winter challenges of its own, not just those related to the downturn in the global financial state - Less snow than normal for this tiem of year and a gondola tower that decided to Ice Jack itself appart in the -20 and below conditions.
Marks had enough of the cold weather and has opted for a 12000km race from Cairo to Capetown instead of sticking around Disneyland for the winter - over to me then to keep things going over the cold months.
With the economic downturn in mind, we are still offering a price freeze for 2009 holidays until the new year and we'll be strategically pricing our holidays for 2009 to keep it a viable option for those of you with tightening purse strings. Whilst the exchange rate isn't working for the Brits right now, you can still pay in £Gbp so really, aside from a bit of food, beer and bike parts, the exchange rate really isn't a major concern for you in 2009- never mind about us.. we'll keep doing what we do best - great holidays at unbeatable value!

  • 19/12/08: Belated Thanks
The hard work of all our staff should also not go unmentioned.
Seb and Jamie took great pride in their work and provided a top drawer guiding service.
Tim and Alex cooked up a storm with Tim continuing to be Australian, but we'll forgive him for that considering his unstoppable work ethos! Not only was he self managing Limoges and catering to up to 12 guests on a daily basis, he was also out come rain or shine building trail all summer long. Tim's expected back next year as our full time trail builder. Tims new trail (well.. BBB's but Tim did most of the work so we'll call it his for now) will be showcased some time in the early season of 2009, but for now all you need to know is that it fills a void identified on the Whistler Recreational Trail plan and displays some incredible use of cedar bridgework. All XC stuff mind you!
Thanks to Tristan and Pete for stepping in at the end of the season as guides and doing a great job - we'll see them back as full time guides for 2009!

  • 29/07/08: Life's busy in a bike town
Things have been going crazy for 2008's super sunny summer season. Guests have been fantastic, most memorably the returning frenchies, that Welsh pair and one particular iron maiden who simply wouldn't let falling off keep her down!
Already half way through and looking towards new things for 2009, the team have been working hard to keep the holidays how they should be - about you!
If things have been slow on the email front, we apologise - Marks broken hand has seen his already shocking two finger type rate effectively halved!

  • 12/05/08: Sunday Times - Comfortably Numb
Back in July we hosted Pete Travers from What MTB for a weeks fact finding mission on the biek park as well as a week ending jaunt through the Whistler signature epic Comfortably Numb trail to show him just what the essence of BC singletrack riding was all about.
The resulting feature story - Comfortably Numb - hit issue 223 of MBUK in April and was a great story and photo segment of the magazine.
Pete has since rewritten his story for the broadsheets and on Sunday, it hit the Sunday Times Life and Style section in both print and web media.
Check out the Times Online for the Whistler Comfortably Numb story.

  • 06/05/08: Late Offers - June Discounts
Come in June (until the 27th) and save 15% on a superb Whistler Experience holiday package.

  • 18/03/08: MBUK write about Comfortably Numb
After months of waiting, MBUK's feature on Whistler signature XC/AM epic trail - Comfortably Numb - hits the shelves.
Written how it is - HARD and soul destrying with sheer elation at the end.
Check out the media page for a link to the PDF of the MBUK comfortably numb feature article here.
Think you're cut out for it?

Whilst this means that we will be able to address some of the issues that have often disuaded our guests from getting involved we will also be able to offer our valuable input into club operations. This is not a conflict of interests in anyway of a way for us to impart any agenda, but a win win situation for everyone involved in the community!

  • 5/10/07: Season Over
Our last guests have left us and the weather has finally turned for the worst. The season has been fantastic and we would like to say a huge thanks to all our superb guests.
Things have been working well all season and all of our staff have stayed with us and vow to return for 2008.
We had approximately 90 guests under our care this summer across the 5 properties we've operated. Each and every guest has been looked after to the best of our ability with guided riding provided so suit their individual needs - surely unique with a mountain biking holiday!
